The Mission of the York Region District School Board is that "we unite in our purpose to inspire and pr
epare learners for life in our changing world community." Franklin Street Public School is a dual track school which provides us with the unique opportunity to work in a bilingual setting. We are committed to developing within each student the attitudes, knowledge and skills needed to be a contributing and responsible member of our changing society. We empower our students to strive to attain their potential and to value and celebrate the diversity of our cultures. The original frame building was erected in 1846 and replaced by a 4-room brick building in 1886. In 1906, the school was damaged by a fire. A gym, stage, resource centre, staffroom and offices were updated in 1992.
Franklin Street P.S. was officially opened in 1882. A child-care centre, owned and operated by Rainbows is located at Franklin Street P.S.
