Franklin Street Public School Council Minutes

The Franklin Street Public School Council (FSPSC) is a collaborative and cooperative body whose objective is to facilitate a partnership of the school community to achieve the highest possible standards of education.

 

School Councils are advisory bodies composed of volunteers who work together to provide ideas and recommendations to the school principal or to the Board on such matters as codes of conduct within schools, appropriate dress of students in schools, fundraising, development of implementation plans for new education initiatives that relate to student achievement or to the accountability of the education system to parents, professional development of teachers and the selection and placement of principals and vice-principals.

 

 

Although membership on the standing committees shall not be limited to voting members of the council, there shall be at least one voting member of the council on each standing committee.  The committees shall report back to the council, for approval, their respective proposed plan of action.

Parental and Community Engagement Committee
Mary Beth Attard (Chair) & Canadian Parents for French - Julie Lum

The Parental & Community Engagement Committee will welcome new people into the school community, provide information about the school council and promote the outreach of the school community in the larger community, including forging corporate partnerships.  This year, the committee plans to engage the wider community in school activities aimed at student development and their future academic goals.

 

Fundraising Committee

The Fundraising Committee will plan and administer fundraising activities on behalf of the school.  The target this year is $15,000.  The primary fundraising activities are the Investment in Education and the Pizza and Ice Cream Days.

 

Safe School Committee
Nancy Malcomson & Andrea Neubacher (Co-Chairs)

The Safe School Committee will propose measures to address issues regarding student conduct and behavior, including security and beautification of the school environment.
